Fr. Charles Kelechi Egbulefu C.C.E, one of the past Chaplain of the Blessed Iwene Tansi Igbo Catholic Community in the Archdiocese of Toronto, was born in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, on September 5th, 1985 to Sir Hartley and Lady Victoria Egbulefu. He is the fifth of six children. He received his calling to the priesthood at around 9 years old - thanks to the inspiration of his erudite and saintly Uncle Rev. Fr. John O Egbulefu C.C.E, who also happens to be the founder of the priestly Religious Congregation of Christ the Emmanuel, to which Fr. Charles belongs. His vocation to the priesthood all began from loving to attend the Mass of his Uncle Fr. John at their Ohuru village parish of St. Jude’s (in Obi Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State) through mimicking Fr. John’s way of singing the Mass (mainly in Latin), desiring to become what he is and does in his priestly service to serve God and his people. Fr. Charles holds a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology from the Pontifical Urban University, Rome, and has served as a Chaplain at the Vatican Sistine Chapel (2013-2015). Currently, he serves as an Associate Pastor at the Transfiguration of our Lord Parish, Etobicoke, of the Archdiocese of Toronto. Moreover, he is at present a Sessional Lecturer at St. Augustine’s Seminary Toronto.
Announcement
We are a religious community that promotes and perpetuates, for the Igbo people in Canada, the Catholic Faith.
Our main goals are to preserve and perpetuate the Catholic Faith in our children through the lens of the Igbo culture, language, social and spiritual values.
Likewise, we seek to reach out in charity to our poor brothers and sisters, near and far through our blessings.
